Dear Friend,
I’m making a commitment to our community to bring this newsletter back to life. Every two weeks, I’ll send you a short teaching from one of our classes, a check-in about life, or just something inspiring I want to share.
This first one comes from one of last week’s live classes, where I shared about preferences and the softening that’s possible through a regular practice.
There’s a saying I love:
“The path is easy for those who have no preferences.”
From the yogic perspective, the mind is the source of both our suffering and our liberation. The softer our preferences, the less attached we are, and the more we flow with the Universe.
Consider this:
Much of our suffering comes from our preference for things to be different than they are.
It’s okay to have likes and dislikes. We are human. But the stronger our attachments, the more we are bound, and the less freedom we feel.
One thing to try this week: notice when you’re agitated and blaming something outside of yourself. Pause, and look at the role your mind is playing. Can you see how your own preferences might be keeping you stuck?
