Dear Friend,
One aspect of the yogic path is community, and the word they use is Sangha, which literally means “those who aspire to virtue.”
It’s so important for us, especially in these modern times, to surround ourselves with others who uplift and inspire us on our life’s journey.
The yogis have a saying:
“Live in the world, but remain above.”
All of us need to be in the world. We have various roles and responsibilities, and we don’t want to ignore them. Yoga recognizes this, and encourages us to act boldly in the world, perform our duties, and remain unattached to the results of our actions.
To live in the world, but remain above... this is yoga.
Another saying I love:
“Happiness is an inside job.”
The ancient texts offer us an empowering perspective on the human experience. They say we are more than just body and mind. That our true Self is absolute bliss, pure joy, a spark of creation itself. That this is our true nature.
And it’s through practicing the yogic system that we can realize this highest potential and experience profound joy here and now. That happiness and joy are an inside job.
And how do we get there? Practice.
By following the systematic practices that the yogis have passed on for thousands of years. Breath, Movement, and Meditation. These are the foundation.
We simply show up, one day at a time. We have a practice, we have a community, we have teachings rooted in ancient wisdom. And, little by little, the light of our highest self is revealed.
